Load of cable tray

The way that the load of a cable tray is understood is by its division into three main categories: static load, dynamic load, and additional load. Each of these types of loads is important to consider when it comes to understanding how the cable tray will perform under different conditions. By taking into account each of these types of loads, engineers can design cable trays that are strong and durable enough to withstand a variety of different loads and environments.

In the context of cable tray systems, the term static load is commonly used to describe the quantity, thickness and mass of cables that are placed in the tray, per unit length.

When installing and maintaining cable trays, the weight of the construction and maintenance personnel is known as dynamic load. For cable trays designed for light-duty applications, the dynamic load is generally not taken into account, thereby restricting people from standing or walking on the bridge. But, if considering the presence of people, the span of the cable tray should be adjusted accordingly to ensure safety.

The extra burden is exclusively pertaining to the burden created by the presence of ice, snow, wind, and electromagnetic force outside. It is contingent on the natural meteorological conditions of the installation location and the characteristics of the charged entity. Therefore, it needs to be calculated based on the prevailing conditions during the design phase.
